You will be given strategies to combat these challenges and resources to strengthen supports for your students. Explore creative strategies through literature, poetry and comics. Let’s weave students’ interests, science, and text supports for increased scientific inquiry and understanding. Savvy Science: Build Your Learning Community While Exploring Science This workshop is not for science teachers only! Any small group of students can benefit from the lateral thinking, questioning and collaboration fostered by these activities. Learn challenging and engaging problem-solving activities that bring fun, learning and community building into your content. This is an interactive workshop that will bring out your creativity and problem solving skills while exploring science in a non-threatening way. Observation and writing skills are applied as we ask questions about our learning and collaboration. Walk the Talk: Structures for Talking About What Matters in Your Classroom Experience a variety of active talk structures that foster communication within groups. We will explore several talk structures used in cooperative learning and experiential education that engage group members in dialog. Different learning modalities will be supported as you participate in professional discussions with your peers.
