Jill Perry is a mathematics educator
committed to finding ways to help all learners understand and engage in
mathematics. Though her love of math began early in life, her work as a high
school mathematics teacher at Land O' Lakes
High School in Pasco
County, Florida fueled her
passion for the subject. As an associate professor and chair of the Department
of Teacher Education at Rowan University
in Glassboro, New Jersey,
she now enjoys teaching mathematics content and pedagogy to preservice and
inservice secondary and elementary teachers.
Jill earned her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction,
with a specialization in mathematics education, from the University of Central
Florida,
and her B.S. in mathematics and her M.Ed. in mathematics education from the University of Florida. She presented with Janet's It's Never too Late Literacy Institutes each summer from 1998 to
2005, an experience that continues to push her as a professional educator. Jill
has presented at international, national, regional, and state conferences and
published several articles in professional journals. In addition to her
teaching, her extensive, sustained professional development work with schools
and districts in Southern and Central
New Jersey keeps her busy. But, as voracious reader and
proud, self-confessed math geek, she enjoys engaging in recreational
mathematics, loitering in bookstores and coffee shops, and learning about the
world with her son, Jackson.
